Seitel designs, markets, and executes new seismic surveys for both oil and gas exploration and carbon sequestration companies. We also purchase existing surveys from other companies. Combined, these create one of the largest seismic databases in the United States, with over 45,000 square miles of 3D data and over 250,000 linear miles of 2D data.
Seitel’s acquisition team works with customers and subcontractors to determine survey scope, feasibility, financing, and then acquisition of new seismic data. The acquisition process has many steps including permitting, coordination with land-owners, surveying, gear layout, recording, data retrieval and seismic processing to create a usable product.
